I've tried the blade grinders, as well as a cheap "burr" grinder. They either produced lousy grinds, broke within a few months, or both. The Breville does everything I've wanted in a grinder. The quality of the grinds is excellent, very consistent and the fineness is easy to adjust. Operation is so simple, you just press the button. No holding down a lid, or agitating the mix (like you had to do with a blade grinder). When it's done, I take out the reservoir and dump the grounds into a larger container. There is no mess, no cleanup, a light tap and the reservoir is empty. he machine is a stylish black and stainless steel. It has a timer button that can be set from 0-30 seconds, I usually leave it at 25 seconds. It's not too large, which means it doesn't take up too much counter space. The noise is about average, it's not quiet but it's a different, less annoying sound than the whine of a blade grinder.

I just received and tried out this grinder. I am well pleased with how it works. It has features not found on most stainless steel coffee grinders I have used or considered purchasing. It is the right size for a home coffee grinder. It is a conical burr grinder which is noted for the most consistent size grind. The conical burr grinder is stainless steel. The feature missing on most grinders is the ability to set it to grind for a specific time and then push a start button to grind and it stops at the end of the time. This allows you to get the amount of coffee the same every time. I have seen the other manufacturers try to word the description of their's in a way that would lead you to believe theirs does that but I have only found this one and a cheap GE burr grinder at walmart that had the timer feature. The others start grinding when you turn the timer and there is no way to set a stop to have it grind the same amount each time. A lot of others have the timer on the side where it is hard to see how far you have turn the timer each time to try to get the same amount of grinding time each time. The construction of this grinder is as good as some I have tried at twice the price. For my money it is a better grinder than the Baratza Virtuso Conical Burr Grinder costing twice the price. The plastic on the Virtuso is not any thicker or strong than the plastic hopper or collection cup on this Breville grinder. I gave it a 5 star rating because of it features, construction and price.
